Cluster feeding nights, and what you can actually do
What you need to know
Cluster feeding is normal, usually evening-heavy, and not a sign of low supply. It can mean hours of near-continuous feeding.
Why it matters
Partners often feel useless during feeds. Almost everything around the feed is yours to take.
What this looks like in real life
It is 9 PM and Maya has fed six times since dinner. Jordan is close to tears and says the baby is always hungry.
What to say
- “This is normal and it is temporary. What do you need in the next ten minutes?”
- “I'll bring water and something with protein.”
What not to say
- Do you think she's getting enough?
- Maybe we should just give a bottle.
- Are you sure you're doing it right?
One action today
Set up a feeding station tonight: water, snack, phone charger, burp cloths, remote, dim lamp.
