C-section recovery: the first three weeks
What you need to know
A C-section is abdominal surgery. Standing, laughing, coughing and lifting all pull on the incision. Lifting limits are real.
Why it matters
Recovery stalls when she does the lifting, bending and carrying that nobody else picked up.
What this looks like in real life
She reaches into the crib to lift Maya because you are in the other room. That reach costs her the afternoon.
What to say
- “I'll do every lift today, tell me when.”
- “Do you want your medication now? Last dose was at 8.”
What not to say
- You look fine to me.
- At least you didn't have to push.
- You should be moving more.
One action today
Do every lift, transfer and stair trip today. Track her medication times so she does not have to.
